Adventure Activity
Standards (AAS)
A meeting of the Technical Working Group (TWG) has been held
on 3rd December 2008 at the offices of Sports & Recreation,
Leederville. The purpose of the meeting was to review the
public feedback received in relation to the 4WD Adventure
Activity Standard. The TWG was well represented with
attendees from Leave No Trace (LNT), DEC, WA 4WD
Association, Track Care WA, Western 4Wdriver, Eureka 4WD
Training & MTA 4WD Industry Association.
The overwhelming concerns via the public feedback forum were
in relation to the 7 principles of LNT. Full details of the
new "principles" will be published in due course, however
it's fare to say that the old ones have gone and we
wrote/edited a complete new set. All those present at the
meeting, were happy with the final draft of these
principles, which are now relevant to WA, reasonable,
workable and sensible.
A further meeting is now scheduled for 11th December 2008 at
the Department of Sports & Recreation. This meeting is for
the TWG to move onto the rest of the AAS, further review
public feedback, and make the changes.
